Short Film Dogs (Les Chiens)

Would you believe that an Artificial Intelligence, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Microsoft’s Copilot, if asked very politely, could generate an alternative scenario for the short film Dogs by Film Director Julie Stunault? Guess what? This is precisely what we did and here is the outcome.

>>> Hello dear ChatGPT, can you write an alternative the script for my short film Dogs?

Yes, dear Julie Stunault, I can write a script for a film. Please provide more information about the type of film you would like the script for (e.g. genre, tone, length, etc.) and any specific details or requirements you have.

>>> Here is the pitch: “Denise and Jean-Yves, two burglars in their seventies, are sitting on a bench, facing the sea. They are waiting for a signal. From who? Why ? It would be better if they could remember.” the film is a short film, maximum 10 minutes in length. The whole purpose is about the meaning of life, the difficulty of leaving the last years of one’s life with the medics trying all they can to make old people life longer.

Here is a short film script for “Denise and Jean-Yves”:

INT. BENCH BY THE SEA – DAY

Denise and Jean-Yves are sitting on a bench, facing the ocean. They are both in their seventies, dressed in all black, looking out at the sea.

DENISE (sighs) I hate waiting.

JEAN-YVES (nodding) Me too.

Denise pulls out a photo from her pocket and looks at it.

DENISE Do you remember why we’re here?

JEAN-YVES (shakes his head) Not really.

Denise puts the photo away and they sit in silence for a moment, both lost in thought.

JEAN-YVES (whispers) I wish I could remember.

Denise nods in agreement.

A signal in the form of a lighthouse flashing comes on.

DENISE (excitedly) There it is!

JEAN-YVES (looks at the lighthouse) What is it?

DENISE (smiles) It’s the signal.

JEAN-YVES (confused) What signal?

DENISE The one we’ve been waiting for.

JEAN-YVES (thinking) I still don’t remember.

DENISE (puts a hand on Jean-Yves’s shoulder) It doesn’t matter. What matters is that we’re here, together, and we have something important to do.

JEAN-YVES (smiles) I’m glad you’re here with me.

Denise smiles back and they both stand up, ready for their next adventure.

FADE TO BLACK

THE END
